Carolyn Amend

May 31, 1951 - February 29, 2016







Carolyn Ann Amend, of Norman, OK passed away on Monday February 29, 2016 at the age of 64 years young. She was born on May 31, 1951 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Carolyn enjoyed meeting and getting to know people for the long haul, had a passion for teaching and mentoring young children, both at Church and at work. Carolyn worked with some wonderful and special children at McFarlin Day Care for over 25 years. Carolyn had a unique memory for statistics, which served her well in following her passion for sports, especially University of Oklahoma teams, both men’s and women’s. She loved listening to local sports radio and conversing about anything sports related. Until her automobile accident in 2006, Carolyn was an active member of Alameda (formerly University) Church of Christ. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Melba Loveta Anderson Amend and Frank Clarence Amend, Jr. and paternal grandparents, Estella Mae Greenwood Amend, Frank Clarence Amend Sr., maternal grandparents Virgie Ann Waller Anderson and Marvin L. Anderson, paternal aunts Allene Amend Schweining, Hester Amend Childers, Janice Amend Orr, Chloteal Amend Youngblood, Marilyn Amend Rosenthal, paternal uncles William “Billy” Amend, Thomas Finis Amend, maternal aunt Marilyn Anderson Wyrick, maternal uncle Edward F. “Jerb” Anderson, and one maternal first cousin. Carolyn is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Carl Edward and Paula Ann Kelsoe Amend, nephew, Michael Jeffrey Amend, niece, Jennifer Michele Amend Lee, her husband Christopher Warren Lee, and their daughter Emerson Jade Lee; twenty three Amend-related first cousins, one Anderson-related “uncle-in-law”, L. E. Wyrick, and three Anderson-related first cousins. Public Viewing will be on Saturday March 12, 2016, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Primrose Funeral Home, in Norman, OK. Public Funeral will be on Saturday March 12, 2016, at 1:00 PM, at Alameda Church of Christ, in Norman, OK. Private Graveside Service and Interment will also be on Saturday March 12, 2016, at Sunset Memorial Park, in Norman, OK, following the Funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that primary donations be made in the name of Carolyn Amend to INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Center in Oklahoma City, and/or the Alameda Church of Christ Children’s Ministry. Secondary donations are also welcome to be made to McFarlin (Memorial United Methodist Church) Day Care.
